Dhollywood to wait for IMPPA’s directives to resume work
Recently, the representatives of the Tamil Film Producers Council and film employees’ federation reached out to the Tamil Nadu I&B minister to seek permission to resume post-production work with limited access. While the south film industry has taken the initiative to reach out to their state government to start the functioning of their film industry, the home state industry has no such plans and is waiting for things to get back to normal before resuming work. With no official body or committee in place for Dhollywood that can address such issues, the industry is looking at directives from IMPPA. “We don’t have any such body that will take an initiative like this. So, we will mostly follow whatever such bodies in Mumbai will decide. Be it CINTAA or IMPPA, whatever the directives are, we will follow suit,” says filmmaker Abhishek Jain.
The Gujarati industry also heavily depends on studios and technicians from Mumbai, and so the industry insiders feel that unless the film industry in Mumbai stars functioning, things are unlikely to rolling in Gujarat. “Most of the post-production work of Gujarati films happen in Mumbai, so unless the studios and other offices start working in Mumbai, we will also have to wait,” says Gujarati film distributor Vandan Shah.
